During
high tide, ocean water flows from Townsend's Inlet into Avalon's back
bays and channels. With these currents Flounder, Bluefish and Weakfish
migrate into the deep holes and channels for food. Prized for table
fare and respected on light tackle, these gamefish can be easily had
for the angler in you. Continue deeper into the saltmarshes for Blue
Claw Crabs.
|
For the
naturalist, winding your way up the creeks into the saltmarshes affords
one with wonderful views of the shore bird life. Also watch the hermit
crabs scurry along the mud during high tide. It is easy to explore
this ecosystem. A day can be spent riding up and down Pennsylvania,
Princeton and Cornell waterways, and the fingers of 42nd street.
